How To Make Lemon Essential Oil?

Lemon essential oil is one of the most versatile and well-known oils in aromatherapy. It is cold-pressed from the peel of fresh lemons. The lemon essential oil has a new, tangy smell that is often used in cleaning and refreshing. So how to make lemon essential oil? I will share the detailed process in this article.

To extract the lemon essential oil, remove both ends and cut into small pieces before adding to a pan with oil on the stove over medium heat until heated through (about 5 minutes). Allow cooling for at least 30 minutes. They’ll be fine once they’ve been taken out of storage or the fridge again.

This essential oil has a refreshing, tart, and citrusy aroma that is uplifting and stimulating. It is also purifying and toning for the skin. You can also be mixed with other scents such as lavender or orange peel to create an all-natural air freshener for your home.

How To Make Lemon Essential Oil

Lemon oil is a versatile and beneficial essential oil that we can use in many ways. It smells great and has health benefits for skincare products like exfoliation or aromatherapy! It blends well with other scent options, so you’re sure to get the best cleaning power possible and add depth to your aromatherapy sessions.

Making your lemon essential oil at home can be a great way to save money and enjoy the health benefits of this versatile fruit. You need some lemons, coconut oil (or other vegetable/seed-based fat), and water! The best part about making it yourself? You control what goes into each batch, so there are no concerns about chemicals or anything unnecessary. Here are my recommended method of making lemon essential oil:

Give the Lemons a Thorough Wash

This is a crucial step to make sure there are no harmful pesticides or other residues on the surface of the fruit. I like to use a vegetable wash, but you can also use water and scrub them clean with a brush.

Cut the Lemons in Halves or Slices

You want to cut them so that as much surface area is exposed to the oil and water mixture. I like to cut them in half, but you can also slice them if that’s easier.

Add the Lemons to a Glass Jar or Bottle

Fill the jar or bottle with lemons until it’s about 3/4 full. You don’t want to pack them in too tightly, or else they won’t be able to release their essential oils properly.

Fill the Rest of the Way with Coconut Oil

Pour in enough coconut oil to completely cover the lemons. You can also use other vegetable or seed-based fats such as olive oil, avocado oil, or jojoba oil.

Add Water and Secure the Lid

Fill the jar or bottle the rest of the way with water so that the lemons are completely submerged. Then screw on the lid tightly.

Find a spot in your kitchen or pantry where you can store your lemon essential oil mixture undisturbed for 2-3 weeks. I like to put mine on a high shelf, so I don’t accidentally knock it over. After 2-3 weeks have passed, strain the oil from the lemon slices using a cheesecloth or coffee filter. Then transfer the oil to a dark glass bottle and screw on the lid tightly.

You can now use your lemon essential oil in a diffuser, homemade cleaning products, or DIY beauty recipes!
